Welcome to the Soundology Blog
Welcome to the Soundology Blog. A place for unabashed love of music and sound.
“I dig music.”
Like most people, I’ve been through lots of changes in my life. And if one thing has remained constant, it’s this: I love music. It’s everything to me.
And I’ve had a music blog for years, but you’ve never read it. No one has. Because…<dramatic pause>…I’ve never written a word.
It’s far from a unique story. Since 2013, I’ve curated a list (yes, this list actually exists across several Apple Notes) of over 200 blog topics for Soundology. Many of them I’ve written mentally, polishing every word, making it just right! Editing them in my brain as I drove, as I meditated (whoops), as I fell asleep. But I never took the next step.
All kinds of things stopped me from actually typing these out, much less sharing them. One huge block was that I also had a huge - HUGE - desire to share “non-meditation-related” music posts. Would that fit the brand? Would people who like Soundology because of the meditation aspect be super turned off by an excited post about my favorite 2018 Coachella act, or the exciting use of music in Marvel comics? Will I appear - gasp - unprofessional?!
It’s now late 2021, and I’ve sadly shared none of the creative excitement alive in my heart. I don’t have time to curate two blogs, two websites, and two compartmentalized versions of myself. It’s time to take actions, imperfect actions, because I can’t keep this shit inside any longer (I just cursed! This is going great already).
So, welcome to the Soundology blog. A home for unabashed love of music and sound. It’s truly been years in the making. Here, you’ll find content ranging from sound bath explainers, to resources in the sound/voice/music healing world, to deep dives on my favorite rock and electronic songs, to potentially obscure music-related things I think are funny and text to my friends (one of whom replied last week, “You should have a music blog. I would read the hell out of it.” Hey, I’m doing it!).
In short: if it’s here, it inspires me - and I hope that some of it will inspire you, too.
